When you are producing more electricity than you need for your home, the excess goes into the usual power grid and can be used by your neighbours. When you do this, your electricity provider (Ergon) will pay you for this excess electricity at the rate of 44 cents per unit.

When you are producing less electricity than you need for your own home (particularly during the night), the extra you need comes from the usual power grid and you pay for it the same as you do now at about 22 cents per unit.

The cost of having solar panels installed on your home is reduced by State Government and Federal Government incentives.
